    Kermit and THE MUPPETS are owned by Disney. Until 2001 , Sesame Street paid Jim Henson Productions to provide their Muppet characters. Then SS bought their characters, and Kermit was not part of the deal because he was not an exclusive character. Occasionally, they reuse previously made footage, which they own. Disney bought The Muppets in 2004.
