  3. 99% of the problem …
99% of the problem is catching children early & include multiple ways of teaching. Past 2nd-3rd grade, it may be too late. A very competitive thread runs deeply in high achieving schools, teens are committing suicide. Teachers privy to world issues know that the curriculum needs an overhaul. Chris W. asked have we lost our get up and go?- yes! The system needs more creativity to promote self- thinkers, especially at the upper levels of K-12. Esther seems to be on the right track.

  5. Quote from my book …
Quote from my book that gets at the issue here. “If no need is left behind, no child will ever be left behind. This educational plan costs nothing and enriches the lives of everyone who participates.” The CORE problems in education are a symptom of the needs that are left behind at home. We need to take the focus away from educational practices and focus instead on providing for families. You are what you think about most of the time and when kids are focused on needs, ed will fail.

@magicishaq I watched it and maybe you are not the target audience. There was good stuff: “overengineered ed”, “airplane mode”, and the moderator was a model of politesse in trying to restrict blather. Its a hard problem.
