David Letterman Makes Fun of Bush in Front of Bush

March 6th, 2010 | by admin |

When President George W Bush sat through a Top Ten list from the Late Show with David Letterman making fun of Bush at the April 21 White House Correspondents Dinner, Bush wasted no time patting himself on the back for his openness to criticism. In this video, however, I put together a few clips to ask some real questions about whether the Bush Administration has actually opened itself up to substantive dissenting opinions.

You can watch the entire April 21, 2007 White House Correspondents Dinner on the C-SPAN website and get information about obtaining video of the entire event at: http://www.c-spanarchives.org/library/index.php?main_page=product_video_info&products_id=197644-1&highlight=white%20house%bush

    LIBERAL (Lib’-er-al) Generally unmarried females and dependent men; think of the Constitution not as of set of rules, but as list of suggestions to be amended at the whim of appointed Judges, Oppose charity, e.g., the year he ran for President, Al Gore donated less than $800 to charity. Liberals can’t be counted on to defend borders, innocent life, the needs of the helpless or national security, Unable to reason, Liberals substitute psycho analysis and personal attacks for debate points.

    Besides, no one …
    Besides, no one knows if it was in the Arabic version or not. The original was lost, and the earliest copy we have is a copy made some 30 years after the document was ratified by the Senate – that article may have just been mistakenly removed from the Arabic version in some copying process. Whatever – no rational argument exists against it. That one article makes it an open and shut case – The founders specifically intended that the U.S. NOT be, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.

    Yeah, the argument …
    Yeah, the argument I hear against that quote most often is that article 11 doesn’t appear in the Arabic version of the treaty presented to Tripoli?!?!? As if that matters any. It’s ridiculous. It was the English version that we know was read aloud on the floor of the Senate, only 9 years after the drafting of the constitution, and passed, without objection, unanimously.

    god wasn’t on our …
    god wasn’t on our cash until the 50’s. America wasn’t founded on religion, but freedom of religion. Read a book, for christ’s sake.

    And what’s your …
    And what’s your problem with atheists? Is it that we question what is to be believed? Is it because nothing good has ever come from free thinkers? Is it because we don’t follow blindly something that, to us, makes little or no sense. I am in no way bashing Christians (or any other religion) here. I have friends far smarter than myself who believe strongly in God. Your points are weak. Look up the origin of why “In God we Trust” appears on your currency. “Read the constitution”? What part?

    @BloatedSensations: …
    @BloatedSensations: Fantastic quote, and what should be unarguable. Yet those who have written below will likely argue that “this could mean anything”. Or be foolish enough to point towards the fact that on currency it says “in God we trust” (made mandatory in 1955 to combat the threat of communism)

    The beginning of …
    The beginning of article 11 from the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli – ratified by the U.S. Senate on June 7, 1797, and signed by President John Adams:

    “Art. 11 – As the government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian Religion; …”

    Have you ever read …
    Have you ever read the Declaration of Independence, you half a moron? Do you see those odd phrases in there that refer to “Divine Providence”? And, “Nature’s God”? Those are Deistic terms. Now, find me anywhere in the Declaration or Constitution where it used terms like “Jesus”, or “The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.” Which are Christian terms. I’ll be waiting…
